In early April, my girlfriend and I, two satisfied AT&T users from Athens, GA., moved into a house in the small town of Colbert, GA. AT&T is unavailable here, so we were forced to go with Windstream for our internet service and home phone.
The first month's bill was for $155.00, but included "installation" charges and the cost of the modem ($50 of which is supposed to be rebated to us). We paid this aky-high bill thinking that the fees would normalize (to somewhere in the $60-$80 range) with the next billing. Interestingly, the modem worked from the beginning, but the phone would not take incoming calls, and a technician had to come to the house to fix the wiring on the OUTSIDE of the house.
The next month's bill arrived the other day and our hopes for a reasonable fee were cruelly dashed by a bill for $243, #100 of which was a charge for repairing the hookup which didn't work from the start. We called Windscheme, and they agreed to drop the repair cost down to a mere $50 because they had "inadvertantly" charged us for two visits, which leaves us with a monthly bill of $143, for interneet service and a phone line. This, I believe is termed usry. Can you help us? Thank you, Harry Williams, Colbert, GA.
