Two years ago my nightmare Vinyl window replacement began,
After enduring 4 window replacement sales pitches I choose
West Coast Vinyl for the following, The price was right,
They were local and they seemed to have a great Warranty.
After they received my $15000 the existing windows were measured and a couple weeks later installation began.
The process seemed to go smoothly until the last cathedral window replacement. During placement of the upper arch a
1.5 inch gap was clearly visible at the peak of the arch.
I questioned the installer about the gap and was told they would just seal it with caulking. I was concerned but thought
they were the experts and we had a Warranty.
Right away we noticed problems,
We ordered a sliding glass door with a doggy door built
into the glass.
The install team claimed to have never received the doggy door cover plate( its a pretty large doggy dog door and anyone could crawl thru it without the cover plate)
So...
We started calling West Coast Vinyl and calling and calling,
In the meantime, I noticed the same sliding glass door would slam into the dog door every time it was opened.
I also had another window that would not open,
The new front door had cracks the outside sun would shine
thru,
When sitting by the cathedral window you felt a breeze!
We kept calling and calling and after getting the run around for 4 months I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
West Coast Vinyl finally responded and fixed everything with the exception of the cathedral window claiming it was fine.
Well, it turns out the cathedral window was not in fact sealed. Water has now seeped into our our home destroying the sheet rock.
This time West Coast Vinyl sent a man out who informed us that after less than two years they are NOT responsible for
the outer caulk seal..The homeowner should re-seal every year? The repair man informed us that he wanted to help but did not think his boss would allow it?
Some Warranty.......
