On September 5, 2010, My friend and I entered the Modern Wig store in Eastover to look for/purchase a wig. The sales woman said I must first purchase a wig cap. When I gave the woman a dollar she stated I could try on a total of 4 wigs.
Additionally, if I decided not to purchase a wig, I must pay $5.00 for the fitting. And if I purchased the wig there was no $5.00 charge. This didn't sound right so I spoke to the manager. He confirmed the policy and the sign posted on a mirror. He said too many people enter his store to try on wigs but they never purchase. So he now charges everyone. Consequently, I opted not try on anything and I paid $1.00 for my wig cap. Is it legal to charge customers for trying on wigs? There is an actual cover charge to shop for wigs at this store. I ended up purchasing a wig at another store without the Modern Wigs Store stipulation.
