Hi, I'm writing to tell you that I was employed for a doctor for approximately 9 years with no incidences with the patients and was sufficient with all of the work I performed. My duties were to answer phones, schedule patients, do referrals, preserts, babysitting his two children, going to the bank for him, pharmacy calls, updating patients on blood work, faxing, calling him with his messages, cleaning, order medical equipment, practically became his realtor for renting his apartment and other personal duties which I was not hired to do. I was never compensated for any of the duties that were not part of my job description upon him hiring me. I was stressed out from working in this office because I ran an extremely busy office as a one person staff, not only doing work for one office but for two which I never received a paycheck for the second office. He hired my niece three days a week to help me out on February 23, 2011 and I worked only Monday through Friday. I received a phone call on the 27th, the following Sunday after he hired her from the doctor saying my niece was no longer working there, his wife that never worked in the office was going to be the new office manager (which she wouldn't be in the office she has her own job), and he was going to rehire another girl that has only worked there one day since she was hired and then continued to not show up to work without calling. After this phone call my blood pressure and heart rate increased dramatically which I already have problems with due to working in the office and I told him that I was calling out sick as we spoke for the following day(Monday, February 28) and that I would be there on Tuesday. How professional can a doctor be to send a text message to his employee the following morning saying, "You no longer work for my practice. You are fired effective today."? I applied for unemployment which I was denied because he lied to them about my reason for termination, which was unknown to me but he stated that it was for not calling out sick which never happened because I very rarely called out of work. Since this incident I have had no money to pay my bills and rent and to pay for any other expenses such as food shopping. I was also harassed by his wife through a previously mutual friend on facebook's page, which he also verbally harassed me while I was employed there in a sexual manor on many occasions. I never spoke up about this because he would threaten to fire me and I really needed that job. So I was just concerned on why it is so hard to find a lawyer to go after a doctor for wrongful termination and verbal abuse and harassment for my rights as a person and for any others that this may be happening to?
