Railroad Industry & Las Vegas Complaint

I read & hear lately about other means of travel because of the high cost of gas. I hear news about "HIGH SPEED RAIL TRAVEL". It all sounds great but has anyone ever noticed that we don't even have "SLOW SPEED travel" by rail? I would be the first to ride to the West Coast if the train would just stop here and pickup passengers.
Here we have rail passing directly throught Las Vegas to major hubs both East & West, yet do we do not have the ability to catch that train to connect to other rail lines.
Good grief, the only Main Station in town only serves food and gambling. I need to catch a train! Stuck in Las Vegas.
