I received an email from The Great American Show about upcoming events in our FL area and though I couldn't specifically remeber asking for information about their events, I responded asking for more information. The event they were puching was a 10 day arts and crafts event during Daytona Beach Bike Week.
They sent me the application forms, some general details, and then I even called and spoke with someone... the one of two times they've actually answered their phone.
I submitted my application, sent them a check for the booth fee and booked my hotel (which of course expensive since this was during bike week.)
First I couldn't get anyone to answer the phone to tell me the axact location of the event. They seem to reply with everything but the location until finally they told me the Halifax marina. I drove to Daytona, checked into my hotel and the next morning went to go set up my tent for the event.... only to find out it was cancelled... "due to a major incident."
Of course they promised a refund as well as some reimbursement for hotel and every week when they don't answer their phone, they say, "Monday we'll be back in the office and we'll send out checks then."
Apparently they're not referring to the next Monday but some Monday in the very very distant future.
After looking at the website and dates of events listed, I noticed they also had Leesburg Bike Week listed in the line up. I'm already registered to attend that event with the Leesburg Chamber of Commerce who actually does that event so I know they have noithing to do with it.
I even called and confirmed that with the people running theLeesburg Bike Week,. It's obvious now that this company just surfed the internet to find out when Bike and Race weeks were taking place and listing themselves as having affordable (if not cheap) events when they're just a big scam artist.
Don't ever book an event with this promoter or your Monday will never come either!
