This letter of complaint is written on behalf of the 2010 Therapeutic Massage students of the American Professional Institute.
Located at 675- E E Butler Parkway In Gainesville, G. A 30501.
Our complaint concerns lack of adequate competent and professionally qualified instructors that where hired to teach us our class study material to prepare our class for state board exams in accordance with regulations for the state board exams for licensing.
There has been a lack of competent instructors to teach us the materiel and constant miss management of staff to the point that we have switched instructors with in a period of four month 5 times and each instructor has jumped around from chapter to chapter
And we as students have been constantly trying to keep up each time to fit into the staff and teaching arrangement's the school kept re-creating.
There has been times when our lesson plans have been changed as well as instructors within two days before final school mode chapter exams and we where asked to memorize all the study material within two day after we where told to memorize another chapter before hand for the same final to the point there was no time to retain over forty pages of eighty or more medical terms per page to study within two days with no prior notice. This has happened twice and both times the whole class failed because the instructors changed by either quitting or being fired by the administrators at the last minute in the course mode, leaving the whole class confused and unable to retain the course study because of the schools inconsistency.
So far this has happened four times with five different instructors and each time the school staff has apologized and come to terms with the fact that the mistakes should have not been done to us as student and promised to fix things, but has not.
some of our classmates have become so frustrated with the school that they have stopped coming, but have been forced to pay the tuition even though the course has been compromised by the staff not the student .
They have not kept the initial arrangement of intent or kept up their own mission statement quoted in their brochure upon entering this course or kept any of their prior promises about how the course would be run in the beginning of the contract to teach us to become Therapeutic Massage Professionals.
At this time we are ill prepared to pass our state board exam.
We have talked to the students who graduated from the school before us and they too have failed the state board exam at this time and have no license to show for their money, time and effort.
At this time our class is preparing to graduate and not ready for the state board exam.
Yet we have paid over (nine thousand dollars) each for this course at this time it is over forty student who have paid (maybe more)and been miss managed and none of us can work in this field without a license.
some of us are fresh out of high school and some of us are single mothers who want a better life for our children as well as males student's of many races.
one thing we have agreed on is all in all; we had hopes for a better futures with this course and feel miss treated and humiliated mentally and emotionally either by making inappropriate comments or action during the teaching of hands on massage when we where undressed during the time the teachers behavior inappropriate and was not in accordance with the professional guidelines with the male staff teachers and female staff teachers.
We have been assigned teachers who outwardly admitted that they did not know the study material they where trying to teach us, yet told by higher up staff to teach it anyway.
We where given teachers who constantly interrupted our class time with personal phone calls and came in more then and hour late more then once during our class time while we,(the students) waited for the arrival of the teacher so class could begin and some days the teachers did not show up at all.
We have had class assignments ungraded and lost and asked to repeat homework assignments that where lost by teachers.
We had to correct some teachers on text book work that they miss quoted to us during verbal instructions; that did not correspond with the text book material information that was written in the text book given to us according to state board guidelines in the text book about such said subjects.
The teachers had to re-count their statement about certain said subjects.
We have had four month's of untaught subject and out dated books that had missing pages and incorrect information.
We are not properly prepared for getting a state license.
We feel tricked into signing up for this mismanaged school course that had claims they could not live up to.
Here recently one of our student put in a complaint to the head administrator and was suspended from the school and escorted off the campus in front of other students for putting in a complaint.
We have found evidence of student loan fraud.
And we demand a refund and feel we should not be charged full price for being taught a half baked course.
We the students of American Institute(Therapeutic Massage) want to be re-reimbursed our money for our course that we did not receive.
We feel that the American Professional Institute has no right to keep our tuition money.
American Professional Institute collected money from us they did not earn.
Pleas contact or class at (706-352-0213).
and ask for Cheryl Marie Tait.
