Voiceless with Verizon - Telephone

Verizon should be chastised for the severe deterioration of their service. I didn't know how poor their attitude had become until today. Our telephone service stopped (no calls can come in or go out). This is annoying enough, but nothing can compare to the response we got (or, rather, a lack of caring) when I called for service. "Well," said the representative, "we cannot send anyone to you tomorrow" (which is December 13). I girded myself to having to wait an extra day. Nothing could have prepared me for the appointment day he gave me: DECEMBER 22, TEN DAYS LATER! Outrageous.
In over 40 years of having a telephone account, I have never experienced such an outrageous example of indifference to the welfare of a telephone customer. What arrogance! What are we--the customers--supposed to do in the face of such incompetence? I would love the media to get "on board" with this story to find out whether all the Verizon FiOS personnel that are swarming my area to service new customers have caused a shortage of technicians for repair duty.
I seriously think that an expose is in order. Public utility companies know that there isn't much of a choice for consumers, so the attitude becomes "who cares?" Well, I think a little TV tidbit on this might just cause a little change. Thanks so much for any help provided.
