Verizon Wireless / SMS Gamer info.com Complaint

Verizon Wireless allows unapproved charges from fraudulent third party

- It effects people Nationally, I live in the Jacksonville, Fl area
I am being charge $9.99 on my Verizon Wireless bill under the label "Premium TXT Messaging". When I called Verizon, they told me that the company "SMSgamerinfo.com" is the name of company which they are billing me for under that specific title. I never signed up or approved Verizon to charge me for SMSgamerinfo.com. I first noticed a few months ago a Spam like text message, which I immediately deleted. I am not a gamer..... I strive to live a simple life and keep technology to a minimun.

I want to expose to the American public the hidden charges which are being allowed by Verizon Wireless. To me it is Fradulent. I have never signed up or approved for this service.

I had the same thing happen to me. I asked Verizon for the name and phone number of the company that claimed I'd subscribed to these services. The name was SMSGamerinfo.com, and the number was that of a 'third party' company that ostensibly dealt only with cancellation of these subscriptions. The rep on the phone was clearly an offshore guy, with a thick accent. When pressed for contact information of the party that billed me, he hung up.

I called Verizon back and explained this to the agent. She said Verizon could not reimburse me for charges billed by another company. I told her my money was going through Verizon to an illegal operation, so Verizon was responsible. She conferenced in the same number, with me on the line. We were placed on hold and then disconnected. She tried another number she had and we got disconnected again. She tried yet another number and finally got hold of the same offshore rep--I could tell from the voice. Well, he gave here the same treatment--when pressed for information he hung up.

She admitted it was a scam and agreed to refund the charges. She added that this was exceptional, and Verizon doesn't normally refund such charges. She also mentioned that this kind of scams have been on the rise the last few months.

The same thing happened to me w/US Cellular. I got the information on the company and called them. I was told that I would be refunded my money that I was charged, but have never seen it. I have spoken w/5 or 6 different people now....I have given up on getting my money back, but something definitely needs to be done about this company.

The same thing happened to my wife (and, trust me, she's not a gamer!) We're over 50, so I contacted an AARP consumer advocate. Don't know if anything will come of it

I just recieved a text message from 97000: "Hi and we hope you have enjoyed "Smsgamerinfo. The service is being discontinued this month no further msgs or chrgs." I never signed up for this, and the website states that you are supposed to be recieving daily gaming info. I do not have time to play games either and will try to get my money back through Verizon. Wish me luck...
