My cell phone service contract with Verizon was to expire in December 2006, but 2 months prior to Dec., my phone bill jumped from $79. (for 2 phones) to over $1,000. When I complained to Verizon and threated to change services, they disconnected my phones and added early termination fees to the bill, reported it to the credit bureaus, and then sent it to collection agencies, who added their own fees to the amount.
The FCC claims to support the consumer but actually chooses to take the word of the rip-off artists, in this case, Verizon Wireless.
