I am an End Stage Renal Patient. After two years of home peritoneal dyalisis I finally felt good enough to plan a vacation trip. I chose Hawaii. On such a trip I can take my dialysis machine and supplies with me. Two weeks before I was to leave I got a catheter infection which requires anti-biotic treatments for 2-3 weeks. So I had to cancel my trip. Expedia refunded my hotel reservations but said my United Airlines ticket was non-refundable. I submitted a request for a refund ($825.21) to United Airlines and it was denied. They said I have to use the ticket for another trip within one year. Meantime my renal doctor has changed my treatment to Hemo dialysis which requires a visit to a dialysis center three a times a week. So now it is nearly impossible for me to schedule another trip for the near future. They still refuse to give me a refund. I think it is unconscionale for them to keep my $800 under these circumstances. Please help. Thank you.
