tried to sell something on EBAY

After registering a username and password the program asked for a credit card for charges EBAY would incur with sales. I complied then the next screen stated that the information would be sent to an unsecured location and do I accept or decline. At this point, I chose not to accept this. Is this the way EBAY operates?
