Our side of story,
we operate a towing company in baltimore. We do towing for numerous police agencies. We were dispatched to tow a stolen recovered vehicle by the police dept. This is our job. We are obligated to tow this vehicle to our storage lot. Upon the police notifing the owner that we had there vehicle in storage, they call for charges. We told customer the fees and she flipped out. (We understand the dilemma of charges for a stolen vehicle when the owner claims vehicle). We were never given the chance to explain situation to the owner. After a phone conversation with the customer they came to look at car and brought a peace offering(cinamin rolls) and apologized for being rude to us. After looking at car, customer didn't know what they wanted to do with car. We gave her options that we give every customer as to what they want to do with there vehicle. She stated she did not have the money to get vehicle out of storage and it was junk. We do not want her vehicle. The customer stated person she bought car from offered to buy the vehicle back. Sounds like a great idea to us. She could pay fees and come out with money. The vehicle won't start, flat tire and window broken out. The customer left that evening. Note: customer never gave us the chance to make a deal so she could have her car back. Car has little value due to condition and year. Why would we want it? Customer states ill be in by 5:00 pm to up vehicle. We go out and get vehicle running for customer and stay till 6 pm and they never show. No phone call, nothing. Next morning customer calls yelling and screaming how we are ripping them off.(However we are just doing our job). The customer calls police, victims help line and then the police call to see if we would release vehicle for the 75.00 That her insurance would pay. Kathy linhard said no problem. We could have come to that conclusion days ago if the customer would stop yelling and screaming long enough to talk to us about what she could pay. So after 2 days of screaming and yelling we made a deal to pick up vehicle for 75.00. So we towed vehicle, stored vehicle, got vehicle running and never was rude or raised our voice to customer. She came to get vehicle. And repayed us by giving us the finger as they left. We have been in buisness for 33 years. Never had such a complaint
