Titlemax Complaint

Owe Us The Max For Life - Pawn Loans

- 1291 mt. zion rfd morrow, ga 30260
I discovered in August 2007 my 20 year old son used the title for my car that I let him drive to borrow 3,000
from Titlemax he was told if he paid it off in 30 days it
would be no interest and after that it would be approx.9%
30 days later he asked me to go over and make a payment for him and they tried to get me to forge my sons signature on some documents and told me that they could not discuss anything with me because i was not on the loan and would not sign his name and would not accept a payment from me. I overnighted the payment in money order form.

The next payment came due and they started calling my phone for Jordan rich may son and told me his balance was 3100.00 after a payment was made and per diem interest
i asked them what was the interest rate and while was the principle increasing, they said they could not talk to me
they just wanted to come get the car. I took the paperwork to an attorney she pointed out that the interest rate after 30 days was 123% and very difficult to ever repay. The sent a recovery person to my home that verbally assaulted me, thus I had to call the police, who informed them to never come back or their will be charges for criminal trespassing. title max continued to call my business phone to harass me and come to my house to stick notes in my front door, the police called them and informed them not to come to my home again.

Their out to be a law against these types of loans and their refusal to schedule something that me son can repay and stop trying to take the car to resale and make 2,000 please inform the public to stay away from titlemax they just want to take your collateral and set up something you can never repay. a person that needs this type loans is on hard times and does not have the money now and will not have it in thirty days It is a TRAP!!!!!!

First of all I would murdered my son, but I have children so I understand that they do things we would have never imagined. What you need to understand is that TitleMax isa Pawn Broker and thus not treated as a lender. Normal regulations as to the interest rate do not apply for them. Same thing happens on pay day advances that people get and then don't pay on time. Legally they are allowed to do what they do and just like a pawn shop, if you do not pay they keep the merchandise. I am surprised that the police made them leave. If they had the paperwork that your son signed, they could have shown that they now have a lien on your car and can lgally repossess it.
