I recently purchased a home in La Jolla, CA. I ordered a Cable TV/Internet package online from the Time Warner website. My bill came out to a total of $129.46 with a $50 waived installation fee (the waived fee was clearly reflected in the itemized order). A couple of days after the order was placed, I received a notification that Time Warner charged my debit card $186.64 (I receive email banking alerts from Bank of America).
I called customer service and notified them about the overcharge. The first person I spoke to said they don't waive the installation fee and that he couldn't do anything about it; therefore, I cancelled my order.
I decided to call again and finally on the 3rd call, the customer representative decided to go through the same online order process I used to make the original order. She clearly saw that the installation fee should have been waived. They decided to reinstate my original order and apply the $50 overcharge to the next month's bill.
If I didn't receive online banking notifications, I might not have noticed the overcharge that took place. New Time Warner customers should be aware of the overcharge so they can fight to get reimbursed. It was not easy to get someone to really look into my situation and provide a reasonable solution!
