Last week a Mortgage scandal was exposed and the news of thousands of ex-convicts and convicted felons were reported as falling through the cracks. Currently the State regulators are trying to play it down. While the State of Florida regulators are chewing on that problem, here is another scandal every bit as serious as the mortgage scandal and maybe even more. Along with the State's huge number of ex-convicts and convicted felons who are turned loose on the street and then licensed to sell mortgages there is also a large number of ex-convicts & felons, some dangerous that own contracting businesses and greatly abuse their license. I'm not talking about construction laborers. The owners who deal with contracts, financing & payment schedules. These ex-convicts are using their past felony offenses as "tricks of their trades". Resorting to bullying, intimidation, threats and even violence. Scams and predatory building practices are the easiest way for these criminals to make a buck. And, since no one is watching. Why not do it. What makes this even harder to swallow is that there is absolutely no accountability. The regulatory agencies all pass their victims off to someone else. It is not their problem according to them. They claim that it is a civil matter. Then when a civil attorney is contacted they say "I'm not going to prosecute, that is a criminal matter" THE STATE OF FLORIDA CREATED THIS MESS AND IT IS UP TO THEM TO CLEAN UP!!!
