I purchased a new gas furnace from Sears in April 2006, Carrier is the manufacturer. I've had continuous repeated problems with the furnace since installation. Most recently from January 4th to present, I've been without heat in my home due to this last furnace breakdown. I called for service through my home warranty, American Home Shield (AHS), who in turn sent United Air Temps to service/repair the furnace. I was promised the part (inducer motor), that's needed to repair the furnace would be ordered as an emergency. The part has not come-in yet and as mentioned I still don't have heat going on 3 weeks now. I'm getting the run-around from Carrier and United Air Temps about getting the part. Sears replaced this inducer motor in Feb. 2010 at a $201.00 cost to me. To top it all off, I have an elderly aunt living with me who is 81 years of age, a heart patient, and retired at home most of the day. The weather has been cold in the last week or so. The furnace is a "lemon" and inadequate for my home heating needs. The furnace should be replaced immediately by Sears or Carrier since the part can't be found anywhere? There is a five year warranty that will expire in April 2012 from Sears on the furnace but they charge labor cost for any repairs required.
