I, like many others, waited outside Target on black Friday for hours in below freezing temperatures hoping to score one of their 46" Westinghouse TVs for half price. Unlike so many people I was lucky enough to get one.
The wrapped TV sat in our living room for the last month as we patiently waited for Christmas but when we took it out of the box we realized the screen was warped, broken, and wasn't sitting correctly in the TV. The box was undamaged.
I called Westinghouse and they said any physical damage to the TV voids the warranty and they would not replace it. I talked to managers at several local Targets and Target's Customer Support and was told the TV had been discontinued (it was only ordered for that one day and they obviously ran out on black Friday) and the best they could do was refund my money. We and even lugged the TV to a Target store that said they had one to exchange it for just to find out it they couldn't find it and couldn't exchange it. The best they could do since the TV was not regularly stocked was return the money to buy another TV but without the black Friday deal we cannot afford it.
I am shocked that Target and Westinghouse will not stand behind their products and do right by the customer. It's not fair that we get screwed and it's not fair to my husband that now he doesn't get a Christmas gift. I am also disappointed in finding out Target buys different products than they normally carry just for black Friday.
I hope by reaching out to you I can get Target and Westinghouse to pay attention to us and replace our TV and stop treating its customers poorly especially around the holidays. Please help make this right. Happy holidays.
