Suncom Wireless Complaint

SunCom Abandons Customers - Cell Phone

- Belton, SC USA
My name is Gail Ruggiero. My husband and I have had Suncom Wirelss since June 28, 2006. They were offering unlimited calling anytime, anywhere for $69.99. We signed a 2 year contract with them. We have had no problems what so ever, until, Friday April 11, 2008. We had no service on our cell phone. I called Suncom that night from a friends phone. They had us take out our battery. Then she said she done something. I had to go to settings and search a network. We still had no service. My husband went to the Suncom store Saturday and they guy done a patch job. As soon as my husband walked in the house we had no service. I called again Saturday, April 12 and talked to Customer support. She told me that they did not guarantee service and there was nothing they could do. Monday, April 14 we went back to the Suncom store. The manager there told us that they were having tower issues and he would send a engineer out to the nearest tower to us. After many phone calls I was finally told that Team Mobile merge with Suncom and that AT&T would not let them us their towers. Sometimes I get service in my yard, sometimes I have to walk accross the street or drive toward Anderson to get service. We went to the suncom store again Friday and this time the Manager told us that AT&T would not let Team Mobile use their towers. He said that there was nothing they could do. He even told me that I maynot ever have service again in my house, but Team Mobile will be building a tower in Belton or Williamstom some day. I wanted to cancel, but they said they do not cancel service in the store. I had called earlier that day and was told that I could cancel without the $200 disconnection fee, but I would not be able to get that in writing. I feel that suncom has just abondoned us. My husband is a diabetic and if something happens to him I can not use my phone that I pay for in my house. I would have to run outside and if I am lucky I will get service. I have to search for a network and when I finally get service outside or accross the street it takes about 15 or 20 minutes. Sometimes I get no service at all so I can not make a call. We have had this contract for 1 year and 10 months. Our contract is not out until June 28 2008. We will have to get another company and pay more plus buy a new phone. We knew nothing about Team Mobile merging with Suncom. When I asked why as customers we were not notified I was told I will get a letter in August! We listed a litter of Labs in the Iwanna. We are not able to receive calls. Sometimes I will get a message but by time I get service they are not interested anymore. This is going to cost us all kinds of money. We signed a contract with Suncom and they are not honoring that contract. As of today I have had no service on my cell phone for 9 days. My phone bill was due today and I paid it. If I don't it will ruined our credit. I am at a stand still on what I can do and if there is anyone that can help us. I am not the only customer that this is happening to. As I understand customers in Williamston, Belton and Pelzer has no service. I would give you my phone Number but I don't have service. If anyone can help us sort this out I would appreciate it. Thank you! Gail

I have been disappointed by Suncom also. I reside in Williamston, and experience constant dropped calls or no signal at all. I am told by Suncom Reps that T-Mobile will grandfather existing accounts over, but their new website states that they will attempt to offer something similiar? I looked at existing TMobile plans, and they are not exact? I will have to pay $10 more per month plus lose 100 peak minutes on a shared family plan. I understand that letters will be sent out in September, and I simply would like to exit my contract without penalty. Any advice is appreciated. I might as well join AT

I dont have a home phone and so I have always relied solely on my cell phone. I had no problems until Suncom sold us out to T-Mobil. I now have no service at home, the new voice mail sucks and the customer service people don't have a clue. Anyone successful on getting your contract canceled w/o the $200 fee???

I was told to write to PO Box 190028, Charleston, SC 29419-9028 and request for your SunCom account to be closed because of the merger without incurring ETA fees. I heard if you do this by October 20, they will cancel your account without the fees, but you can only cancel by sending a written request.

That's ETFs not ETA.
