I've been trying to receive my passport book and card since Nov. 2010. As of today May 16, 2011, I’ve received approximately 4 letters from the New Orleans Passport Agency. These letters are always asking for more information to verify my identity. I've complied to all letters with the information and documentations requested that I have. The last letter, dated April 6, 2011 then asked for documents 5 years or older and supplemental forms to be filled out with last known addresses, schools, names and addresses of my parents and siblings. All the information that I had was again sent and mailed to the office on April 18, 2011. May 6, 2011 I received yet another letter informing me that because I did not respond, my application had been denied. I replied to all previous letters and it really baffles me that the very last letter I sent to the Louisiana office with all the supplemental forms filled out, another copy of my birth certificate and all ID photos I have, social security card, high school transcript and the fact that I’m being discriminated upon because of my name and gender (male), that office claims to have not received anything it.
I called the main number a day later after receiving the denial letter and found it very disturbing that I was told my application “is being processed”. Very asinine.
Through all of this I’ve received only one phone call from that office within these past 4 months by an alleged Ms. Shannon who gave me false information and hopes. She stated that all that was needed was my high school transcript. After receiving that in the mail, I copied and sent it to the The Louisiana office. I then received another letter that now what was needed were documents 5 years or older. I then again sent a letter, attached, another copy of my birth certificate (long form), social security card, old food benefits card, employment ID, copies of a 2007 W2, government issued photo ID and my high school transcript. It seems very unreasonable that I wouldn’t respond to the last letter when I’ve responded to every other letter, especially when I’ve paid so much money for the passport book and card. I don’t have money to throw away! I cannot receive my passport or monies for whatever reason, and I only receive one of the two passport photos I sent with the original application. I sent an email such as this to the NPIC@state.gov May 13, 2011 and received a response 2 days later "your application is in process..."
