If you have need to make a collect call....beware of the "helpful" stickers on the pay phones...They give you an 800 number and if the company is ILD Telecom they will charge $5.00 per minute without your knowledge or the knowledge of the person who is receiving the call....The charges will be put on the local telephone company bill...The local companies have no responsibility for any scamming that these random telephone companies are charging....they just act as a collector of the spoils! I called my local company and they said they could do nothing and that there are hundreds of this companies....soooo, we need to be vigilant...am sure that there are legitimate ones but you need to ask, ask, ask....I complained to ILD and immediately they gave me a reduction of 40%...they are hoping no ones calls or notices....most people just pay the bill without checking and are scammed for months.
