Steve Rayman Complaint

Steve Rayman Chevrolet's Defective Part Causes $2000 in Damages - Timing Belt

- Cobb County
My complaint involves a timing belt purchased from the Parts Department of Steve Rayman Chevrolet on my behalf by Kim Black of Fairground Auto and Body Shop for installation on my 2004 Aveo. The belt was purchased on March 29, 2010 (Invoice # 557038) and was then installed on my car by Fairground Auto. I decided to replace the timing belt because I had read of the frequency of the belt breaking after 60000 miles and the severity of the engine damage that could result from the belt breaking. On October 1, 2010, this replacement belt broke and caused extensive damage to the cylinder head. I had the vehicle towed to Fairground Auto where it was repaired at a cost of $2098.30. The mileage on my Aveo when this happened was 73688. The replacement timing belt had lasted only 4327 miles. Mr. Kim Black of Fairground Auto attempted to get Steve Rayman Chevrolet to stand behind the defective belt and cover the cost of the damage to my car but was unsuccessful in his efforts. I came out the loser.
