I am a dissabled Dad who owed back child support. When I got my award letter for benefits, my child also received a letter of award. The court told me that any monies he got as part of my dissability, would be credited towards any arrearages I had accumulated. He got a monthly check along with a "Lump Sum Payment" which completely covered ALL past due arrearages. But my ex-wife failed to inform the state OAG of the thousands she got on my behalf and the State moved forward and "Hit my Credit as a DeadBeat DAD", and when I called them to complain, I was told that, "There are worse things we can do than that"! Since then, the State has garnished more than $5000 from me. My complaint to the State Ombudsman in Austin has yet to respond. The office now handling my case says, "I'm sorry about that". I am not trying to get the money back, but only wish to be credited for all the money they took and use it against any future medical bills my child may have. I get $673 per month to live on & I'm one step from homeless, yet I can't afford an attorney and can't get the State to "Do the Right Thing". Can you help me? I'd love to go on the news to help others from being run over as I've had done to me.
