I bought my Sony Wega 42" KDF-E42A10 TV about 4 years ago and enjoyed a beautiful picture for about 3 years. Slowly a yellow film started taking over my screen. A couple of months ago, a blue blog started taking over my screen.
I did some research and googled my TV and found out there were hundreds of others with this same problem. There has been and still is class action lawsuits for these TV's.
Sony has mad some offers of paying for part of the $1200 optical block to be replaced or a small amount toward a TV that can be purchased cheaper without the discount. I have yet to be offered any kind of solution to my problem. I have sent emails and contacted customer service only to hear that my set is out of warranty.
Many of us have also found out that even though the part is replaced, Sony has disclosed that it may not last long either.
I hope you will do a little google search of all the websites and Facebook pages that have been started for people to try and and figure out what to do. Many letters, emails and other solutions have been tried and I have yet to find anyone that has been satisfied with Sony's service.
