Sony sending firmware to break out of warranty PS3s - PS3

Purchased Sony Playstation 40GB - Model # CECHH01 (40GB) - Serial # CE742305951 on 05/23/08 from Circuit City for $399.00+tax

On 04/30/09 had to file a warranty claim after on online firmware upgrade 2.70 failed to recognize any disc in drive...same unit was repaired and returned on 05/06/09

On 06/10/10 unit received an online firmware upgrade 3.30 which never recovered. No video output. Called into CS - spoke with (2) techs (2) different times on SR# 1-257711698. Customer Service refused to repair unit without a service fee claiming it was out of warranty. Yes unit was out of warranty but FULLY working until a Sony firmware update broke it. I will testify to this under oath. I should not be liable for Sony sending a firmware to break a device after it expires warranty.

Escalated to Britteny (manager) who was willing to create a service call using my CC#. Advised her, that my CC# would not be given

Escalated to Nathan - (supervisor) who kept saying 'oh well - your unit is out of warranty' and would not accept to create a support case w/o a CC#. I advised him I was willing to pay shipping charges to have unit back to Sony - but would not risk my CC# - Nathan advised me that there was nothing else to discuss'

I see Sony customer service is taking care of their customers very well! I would like my unit repaired / or actually replaced since I now am wasting more than 2 hours on this...
