IHSA Complaint

Some schools can do what they want at sectionals and state sport events

- Illinois
Ihsa tournament our being catered to specific teams. Each year at section swim meets Fenwick High school is allowed to break all rule because they host the event. The official our confronted, but they tell us that it's their event, so let them do what they want. The swimmers get to warm up when ever they want, but other teams are told they can't. The team whole team stands behind the blocks and all other teams must stand at the ens d of the pool.(where they should be) The only ones behind the blocks should be the timers and the swimmers for the next event. They yell, wave their hands and skake the starting blocks of the other swimmers. This affect the swimmers concentration, they way they prepare for the start and their start, which affects their times. This issue wasbrought to the attention to Ihsa swimming, Ron McGraw. He said he is not going to do anything about it and if we want to have those advantages we should host our own section/state events. We would be happy to, but some school aren't as fortunate to have facilities big enough to host this event. So it comes down that some school in Illinois get special treatments and can do what they want. No wonder there is always the same team each year that wins. I know this has got to happen in other sports too, so hopefully more people will take a minute and reach out so this unfair avantaged stop happening. I witnessed this first hand with swimming and I am very upset with the way IHSA caters to the same teams every year. It may be to late, but take a look at the meet at Fenwick school Sat. Nov. 12 at 1:00pm and you will see what I am talking about.
