COPA Airlines Complaint

Senior Dad Robbed at Airline Ticket Counter - Airline Ticket

- Panama City Panama
On May 31, 2009 my elderly father flew out of Panama City, Panama to Dulles, VA. The ticket agent informed him that he had changed his reservations because the ticket stated that he was flying in on June 1, 2009. My father explained (both in English and in Spanish) that he did not change the reservation. He had to pay $130.00 extra in order to fly that day. He did not have the money on hand, he borrowed the cash from a family member that was also flying on the same flight and had bought his ticket at the same time. What the agent did not understand was that he was arriving on another date ONLY BECAUSE the day changes after 12:00 midnight. The original and ONLY reservation was made in February 2009 on-line. When I telephoned the complaint in on June 2, 2009, I was told that I had to submit it in writing. I was asked to submit the complaint at least three more times. COPA finally did admit to receiving the written complaint. In fact, COPA ultimately realized the error of their ways and agreed to give my dad a ticket. He did not want a ticket he wants his money back. He never wants to fly COPA again. I have contacted the BBB that referred us to an agency in D. C.. It is May 20, 2011, nearly two years after that event and we have yet to receive a refund.
