This is the final chapter of this complaint on a faulty fuel tank on a Craftsman Riding Mower.
From the last time I contacted the Sears Rep. I waited approximately 4 days and decided to try again to see if this fuel tank was put on a recall list and check on the new tank I had ordered based on it was not on a recall list. I contacted Sears Parts Dept. (800 #)the Rep. told me they didn't have any record of it being put on a recall list and the tank I ordered was on back order and was supposed to be shipped on the 10th but it was pushed back now until the 14th, he then switched me over to a customer rep. to check to see if they had in their records if they had it on a recall list. This rep. couldn't find it on a recall list but said they would switch me to the safety dept. so they did and they couldn't find it on a recall list. This day of contacting Sears I only list 3 different reps. that I spoke to but there were a total of 5 different people.
I had waited and finally my tank arrived, I do not see any difference in this tank, I installed it and now can cut grass. I only hope it does not spring a leak.
I intend to send this complaint in is entirety to a Sears address that I was given and only hope someone will take it seriously.
To best of ability, this is an accurate account of my experience with Sears. I know I will not buy anymore equipment from Sears involving mechanical parts. I hope someone would read this complaint and do the same.
My hope is also that anyone that has this fuel tank on a riding mower made by this manufacturer does not have a defective one and loses gas because it could be a disaster.
Thanks for listening.
