I was a customer of Bank of America for about 3 years total. I had financially gotten to the point that I wanted to open a second account. My primary account I would use for bills and my secondary account I would use for recreational money... that's where I went wrong.
I moved the majority of my money over to my secondary account -- I left about $30 bucks in my primary account, I was expecting my paycheck to drop in very soon, so I wasn't in great need of money at the moment. LONG STORY SHORT.... I had some unexpected expenses come up and I didn't have a debit card for my secondary account yet, so I transferred money a couple of times from my secondary to my primary account. The money showed that it had transferred immediately. Little did I know, Bank of America said that "even though it shows that your primary account is automatically updated with the amount you transferred, the money doesn't really post for 3 days". Therefore every single transaction I made over a 3 day period (which was somewhere in the ballpark of 18 transactions) incurred a $35 NSF fee.
Bank of America says that I owe them somewhere around $600 -- I cannot stomach paying them because that is not their hard earned $600. It is mine, and I feel ripped off. Nobody at Bank of America would help me. So, I went to NetSpend... and guess what?! I don't have any NSF fees! If I don't have the money then I can't spend it, I don't have checks, but I have direct deposit from my job and I can pay my bills online. That's all I need.
Screw Bank of America. I hope that their greed is what brings them down.
