My name is Akemia Hollis and I was suppose to graduate May 4th, 2011. On April 19, 2011 I received a call from SCC and they stated my Life Scholarship, that they offered me, was a mistake!!! I have documents stating that my scholarship was offered to me, and now they are trying to take it away. I made an appointment with the President of Business Affairs and he stated " It was not the schools faught." I told him I didn't see where it was my faught the school sent out false information and waited until the end of the semester to say it was false. The President told me they had documentation that I signed in 2007 where I knew the Life Scholarship was only for 4 semesters. In 2010 I received another letter stating I was awarded the Life Scholarship again. I asked the President to send me the letter form 2007 so I could see it because he wanted me to go ahead and set up payment arrangements. The paper he sent was a paper I signed in 2010 stating I received the scholarship, so I asked him was I suppose to receive the paper and he said "no you were not suppose to receive the letter". I made an appointment with the Vice President and we discussed what was going on and he said he would have a meeting with the president of Business Affairs. I called him to see what they disussed, he said there was nothing he could do because it was Business Affairs problem. My next step was the president of the School. I called the president on two different occasions and spoke with her assistant and have yet to receive an appointment to speak with her. I want to file a complaint with you guys because I feel like I'm being taken advantage of and nobody wants own up to their mistakes. I only work part-time and my mother is a single parent with 3 children. We do not have the money to pay SCC $1938.00 even with a payment arrngment. I would not have to SCC for the 2010 semester if I knew from the beginning I had to pay them out of pocket. I am a good student, I never miss any classes, and I'm always on time. I worked hard to graduate and now they want to take this away from me and I feel it is very unfair! I'm asking that you please help me with this issue because I think their may be more students that SCC has done this to and it's has to be fixed.
