I was alerted that my Avast subscription was about to run out and I renewed using my credit card. But I was unable to renew apparently because I did not get an email with my key #. Tried to contact Avast and was directed to iyogi the company that handles technical support. Went around in circles and after turning control of my computer over to iyogi I was shown I had 4 viruses that Avast could not fix. The viruses could only be removed with a "special tool" that would require me to pay iyogi to upgrade my support. I went through this with them earlier in the year and plunked down money for them to fix my computer which they did. This time I smelled a rat and told them to stop and give me back my computer. They did signing off with, "Good Karma."I have not had good karma ever since.
Went back to Avast and got an order # so they could work on the problem. Then I couldn't access the place where I plug in my license number. I needed a password. They sent it to me. They did verify that I paid on the date I said. But I was still not able to register. Then my computer began to crash every time I tried to boot up. Now I'm stuck. How can I register if I can't even turn on my computer. Can't even use the "special tool" that iyogi apparently has.
In frustration I went to the Internet (on my old compaq) and looked up complaints on iyogi. Took me right to iyogi. Around in circles again. Finally got through to customer complaints and read exactly what was happening to me. Starts with trying to renew your subscription then on to the sales pitch. It's as if they are reading from a script. What can be done about this? Is there a legitimate company out there that can do the job? I have a 2 yr subscription to Avast and can't use it. Help!
