How tired are we who subscribe to channels over this media that rip us off to the maximum. Like big Wall Street bankers, the stations that broadcast over this medium are squeezing profits at the expense of consumers. I, for one no longer enjoy the content of any station, because the executives have destroyed any entertainment value they may have once had.
For anyone reading this that has not signed up for this type of service I warn you, it is not what it seems to be.
Want a history channel that shows little or no history, but airs shows about loggers, ax men, pawn shops, and other non-historical fluff? Want a History Channel International that pretends its a bit more rich in content but simply airs the same exact shows as the history channel for more money? Want an AMC (American Movie Classics) that advertises its own shows at the bottom of the screen during content for which you are paying? Let's put it this way, do you want channels that sound good that are all actually garbage. And let me tell you, the garbage starts at the executive level of these stations, and pours out onto the screen. I must say here though that the subscription movie channels are the best if you like 70% of the films they air that are old and worthless.
STRATEGY: We need a consumer organization that fights against the tired old worn out lies about these worthless stations, that are so full of commercials that when you surf around the dial all you ever hit is commercial after commercial. Remember, we are subscribers, we are paying to watch these commercials. What a racket! I suggest we form a consumer watchdog group that targets advertisers. Here is how we should do it. If AMC wrecks our content with ads on the screen for one of its shows, we get thousands of our group to write letters telling them we are boycotting their product until they stop supporting the greed of the stations. We have to be upset with the advertisers as they actually do support the greed and therefore the contempt the station executives have for the the subscribers. We need to focus on each instance of maltreatment, and inundate the advertisers with our complaints and boycotts. If the sattelite providers don't get the message, then we must boycot our satellite TVs altogether and all together. If they know a few hundred thousand subscribers are willing to turn them off for a few months at a time, they stand to lose millions. If we stand strong, we can send them a message they cannot ignore, and the pressure to improve content will flow the other way. The providers may choose to drop stations that are causing subscribers to boycott their service. Would Direct TV or Dish want AMC to be accessed by subscribers only to cause their anger and punish the providers -no! Providers will make it clear that the greedy behavior of the stations cannot be allowed to cause their subscribers to punish them.
Stop complaining and start taking action. I want much better content and so do you. But being sheepish won't solve this problem. The staion executives have simply shown themselves as greedy, slovenly, stupid pigs at the very best. They hate their subscribers and love their money. And boy does it show!! There are no standards they are held to, and if they can't run their stations with regard to the consumer, they ought to go out of business because this, my friends is not what we signed up for.
I have been subscribing to this artificial flotsam for over 15 years, and I am sick to my stomache of their empty content, and empty promises. The stations used to have much better content in the past, its just that now, the execs have learned how to milk these stations of revenue at our expense.
Forget station labels, they mean nothing. Everyone is just lousy content and a huge amount of commercials.
Let's use our pens and our wallets to wrestle control from the pigs that are sitting at our trough, with our subscription money, screwing us and laughing at us.
