My wife and I went to San Tan Ford in Gilbert AZ. We wanted to take advantage of the $4,500 "Cash For Clunkers" government program. We found a new Ford Escape on sale for 17999. So we traded in our 2000 Ford Windstar minivan for the new fuel efficient Escape. After reaching a deal with sales department we then moved to the finance department. We qualified for a 14.99% rate on a 72 month loan. (a poor rate but we would never have a chance at a new car again). So we made arrangements with Jason in the finance department to try to seek a better rate with one of our Credit Unions. After 3 days of trying to get a better rate with a different lender and failing...we made an appointment with Nicole to sit down and sign the finance paper work at 14.99%. When we arrived the salesman Joe, and Jason, and Nichole from finance was not to be found. The sales manager and the general manager refused to let us sign the paper work for the car and demanded that we pay cash ONLY. They then refused to let us finance the car claiming that they want to keep a good relationship with the lender. We told them we don't have the cash and we would want to keep the original deal we agreed to. But again the sales manager and general manager refused, stating they want cash only. We refused and they demanded the keys for the new Escape. This crooked and underhanded business practice caused my wife and 2 children (that grew attached to the new car) to burst out in tears in the middle of the dealership. We then drove our old "clunker home". From the BBB website I see that I'm not the only person to make a complaint about this Dealership. I hope you can do something about this. Please feel free to contact me at anytime. Respectfully Dan Fossen
