I’m at my wits end trying to resolve an issue with a roofing contractor. I hired “Creative Home Remodeling Group Inc.” to replace the roof on a four unit Townhouse in August. The HOA checked with the BBB prior to awarding the job and the company had an A+ rating.
The contractor did not complete the job per the contract, and the work he did do is substandard. Both myself as well as our property management company have been trying to get him to fix the problems but all we do is get empty promises.
According to the proposal/contract, he was supposed to remove the old roof material and replace with new. He was also supposed to pull a city permit and have a city inspector inspect the work when finished. I can actually see an old repair underneath the new material; which proves he did not remove the old roofing material. And considering the workmanship, I don’t believe a city inspector has been out.
There are gaps between the roofing materials where water can enter the structure. During the demolition, they broke the air conditioner condensation drain lines and allowed water to run into one unit causing drywall damage. They severely damaged a plant by throwing roofing material on it (even after repeated warnings not too); they got tar on carpet inside when the removed skylights. And so on.
The big problem is they invoiced our property management company saying the job was complete, the management company paid the invoice without consulting the HOA; so as you can imagine the contractor has been less than willing to complete the job or perform any of the repairs.
