Rite Aide Complaint

Selling Expired Baby Formula

- queens
We purchased yesterday a box of baby formula singles as well as a bottle of the ready to use formula. Both are Similac advance. My husband did not read the exp dates. I received a call today from the sitter that the formula our newborn had been drinking all day was expired I quickly rushed to check the dates on the singles and they too expired in 2006. It is extremely harmful to the babies and can cause upset stomach and worse. It is wrong for the store not to pull these products from the shelves.

I have seen expired baby formula at the Moffett Field Commissary, where I work. One night, I found 12 cans of formula 9 months past expiration, which I pulled immediately. Last Friday, I found several cans 2 months past expiration, and on another night, one case of formula came in 2 months past expiration. In all instances, I marked the formula as expired. On the case, I wrote "expired, do not stock". On some cans which were severely past expiration, I wrote "READ THE DATE!", and circled the date.
