On 5/27,i was walking my dog, on leash, at a park in our neighborhood that is busy w/dog's and owner's all day long. I saw a woman and her small dog approach and make my dog sit until they pass, etc. Her dog was on a retractable, long leash which normally is fine. But, her dog seemed afraid or something and the woman wouldn't pass, just stood there. Unfortunately, my dog attempted to play w/it, and actually picked it up and shook it. I felt horrible! She immediately dropped it, no blood, wounds like that, it was very weird- my dog wasn't growling, aggressive, just picking her dog up was enough!And since I'm a responsible owner I insisted we take her dog to my vet. (Nearby, they have tay's records, etc). I don't have credit cards, and had to pay 700.00 For the visit. I just wanted the dog to be ok. Then- she wanted me to meet her @ a specialist in phoenix. Emotionally a mess, I agreed. He was a very nice man. Until he mentioned the amount of 12,000! For what? I explained I am on disabilty- have multiple sclerosis- I just drained my checking acct. 700.00 At first vet, no ccards. What exactly needs to be done at this point? I needed air and went outside. He came to me about 5 minutes later and said the couple agreed, after knowing my finacial situation, to a "wait and see" approach.(That was fast).Went from 12,000 to wait and see? (Red flag)
he did say most people would've left the scene for her to deal w/her dog on her own. For me to help as much as I have is admirable.(Uh, I'm overdrawn, now at @ another vet w/o a dime- don't feel admirable!) I said I'll pay for his visit when he comes back. The acct. Mgrwouldn't agree. Wated me to apply for carecredit. I said- no way. The interest is unreal, no! Next thing I knew, stephanie said I was approved for 1,200!? How, when I didn't want it. She said this way I won't have to be called when the dog comes in, we'll put it towards your availble 1,200.(My gut told me because I was an emotional wreck they were taking advantage of me) I received my "credit card" a week later, in which I didn't activate. 2 Days ago, I get a bill from ccredit, balance owed- 1,200.89! Min due- 34.00.
There's not any list of service rendered-nothing. I am paying for the amount they approved me for- that's wrong. When you're approved for a "visa" in the amount of 1,200,that amount is there until you purchase something. I'm so mad. I called carecredit, they said that's between you and the vet, sorry! I called stephanie- again- and demanded to talk to the vet about this. Nope, sorry. I also am having personal surgery-even though it's not their business- (have records)and told her, look, I need my $- cancel this care credit bs. The dog wasn't even seen yet and I'm getting a bill for 1,200 plus? She said the dog has been seen one time for a bandage change! This is exactly why I offered to pay per visit. Now, they can make up charges, or do nothing and I'm still getting billed
please contact me! I feel this is borderline fraudulent, especially ethically wrong! If she would've let me speak to vet, maybe he'd worked something out. How long am I responsible for this dog that's only returned to vet for a bandage change? Certainly not 1,200.89. I'm much better at talking face to face and pray someone finds this story worthwhile.
