Brazilian TAM Airlines Complaint

Brazilian Tam Airlines-Don't believe the 90 day "REFUND" in the contract - $1247.00 refund stated in their contract and by the reps. is a no go.

A once in a life time trip to Brazil. A pricey trip to N.Y. city to get a Brazilian Visa on my son's passport. The turn around time for the Visa being 24 hours. We asked a "registered runner" to mail the passport/visa to us from the Brazilian Consulate. The passport/visa got "lost in the mail" for over three weeks. We thought the Passport/visa had been stolen. We canceled the airline tickets with TAM Airlines on 12/12/07 because there was not enough time to get a new passport with a Brazilian visa. The airline contract states "Refund permitted. refund fee of $35. Refund fee of 20%." After calling (305)477-5997, ext.226, I was told to wait 90 days. I did. I have called several times since then. NO RESPONSE. My 22 year old son not only lost a once in a life time adventure but over a year of his savings for the trip.
