Beware of fraud and larceny committed by Uldis and Ice Stone Works of Brooklyn!!!
We signed a contract with Uldis, the owner of Ice Stone Works, on 9/20/09 to install a granite counter top in our kitchen. We paid him a $2500 deposit at signing, and he promised to install the counter by the end of September.
Since then, he has promised to come and install the counter top on literally 10 separate occasions. Each time we took off from work and waited for him. Each time he failed to show up, and failed to call us to tell us he would not be showing up. When we were able to track him down, he would tell us "he was still working on the counter", that he was "still polishing" the counter, etc. Most recently he told us he was "loading the counter on the truck" for delivery to us within 90 minutes. We have been without a functioning kitchen for the last month we have been waiting for Uldis and Ice Stone Works to install the counters.
We recently learned that Uldis has never even taken possession from the granite wholesaler of the pieces of granite he is supposed to be working on for us! He has taken our $2500 and repeatedly lied to us. Obviously, he can not be "working on" or "polishing" granite that he does not have. This is grand larceny!
We have read on your fine website of another consumer defrauded by Uldis and Ice Stone Works. We also have a friend who has a relative that Uldis has defrauded. All three cases follow the same pattern- the consumer pays Uldis a down payment for granite counter tops, Uldis gives alleged installation dates, and then repeatedly fails to appear. It is likely that Uldis and Ice Stone Works have done this to many more consumers than just me and the other 2 I have learned about. I would like to see this fraud reported on television. Maybe this would save others from going through what this criminal has done to us.
We will be suing Uldis. We will also be reporting him to the Distrct Attorney, the Better Business Bureau and the New York Attorney General's Office. This man is a dishonest liar who belongs in prison.
