I live alone in my house. In the winter I ALWAYS keep my heat to the very minimum for the pipes not to freeze, and light just as needed. I love cool weather and I don't mind wearing a coat in my house. Because of that, my gas/electric bills have been low, as they should be. Just recently, I made the mistake to let PSE&G come in to put in a NEW meter. I am now holding the new bill in my hand for $1,213.71. I called and 'Mary' defended the bill stating the old meter wasn't working properly. She did not care to hear anything else. Of course I am changing company immediately. It is unbelievable that this big company turned so vicious on innocent consumers. I heard from neighbors this is happening to them also. Moral of the story, do NOT let anyone come in and 'change' their meter to their convenience! True horror story.
