When Consumers Pays for Big Companies Mistakes - Airline Service

On September 20th I purchased a round trip airline ticket for travel to South Carolina on the 21 of Sept. I specified that I needed the trip to be an early morning flight because I was trying to get to South Carolina in time for my son's graduation from the army. After bidding and submitting my credit card info the itinerary was forwarded to me, that's when I noticed that they had me scheduled for a trip leaving out at 4:00 pm and arriving in South Carolina at 7pm. I immediately contacted price line and informed them that they had made a mistake and that I needed to Leave from ORD early in the morning and that my return time was flexible. I spoke to several representative and two supervisors to no avail so in the end I decided that I would take the 4pm flight and see if the captain for my son's regiment would grant him permission to see me even if for just an hour.

I arrived at the airport and my flight which was scheduled for 4pm was delayed at intervals with a tentative scheduled departure for 9pm on the 21st of Sept. After waiting for something concrete I ask United airlines for a refund on my ticket or a credit so that I can take a flight out at some other time. I explained to the agent for United that I was on my way to see my son graduate from the US Army, an event which I had not been privy to because I could not get any assistant from either priceline or United in helping to make this possible. I however was hoping to be able to have a reunion with my son before he was shipped out and because of the delay in their schedule i was being denied that reunion also. She was empathetic but said that there was nothing that she or United could do to help me. How is it possible that both company agrees to take your money but when it come time to rectify mistakes that they made, none of them are willing to bear the responsibility.

Is price line running some kind of a scam and sees this as a way to prey on the poor, or inexperienced traveler. I am planning on writing to every major news and television station and putting my experience on diff. blogs so that everyone knows to be leery or this company.
