If I had known my $70,000 Porche Cayenne was made with Volkswagen parts that are substandard and unable to handle such a heavy vehicle, I would have never wasted my money or risked my family's safety. After only 50,000 miles, (thus out of warranty) it is well known in the industry that the drive/propeller shaft completely breaks down. Nobody in the news ever reports it and Porsche hides the fact that they are even aware of this problem-they told me at their corporate office that they'd never heard of this issue before. Check the internet, its all over and yet they refuse to issue a recall. I guess they are waiting for someone to cause an accident when their car feels like its in an 2,000 lb. unbalanced washing machine going down the 405 Fwy. The cost for a new drive shaft part is $950, but Porsche's corporate office refuses to even consider any goodwill reimbursement unless you pay an authorized dealer to diagnose and complete the work first. My car (53,000 miles) costs $1400 to fix at my local Newport Beach dealer, so I had the work done at an independent shop and Porsche's corporate office refused to even talk with me. It is illegal to require a consumer to use their local dealership for repairs. I am outraged that the consumers aren't aware of these practices and feel they should be informed before they step into a Porsche dealership and spend what ammounts to around $80,000 for a VW.
