Pitre Buick Pontiac GMC dealership Complaint

$1,295.00 for 5 standard oil changes - Pre- paid Synthetic oil change plan

- Rio Rancho, NM
In June 2006, my husband and I purchased a new truck from Pitre dealership. Along with the truck, we purchased a Platnum Service Plan(about $6,000). In that plan we upgraded to synthetic oil($1,295.00) for oil changes( being told in the finance department that our truck came on the lot with synthetic oil.)Also being told by finance that synthetic oil was very expensive (3x the price of standard oil)so it was worth getting the synthetic plan. We received our car care booklet by mail (certificates for the oil changes)and from day one of getting our oil changed @ the service department we were told that we did not have a synthetic plan.

A year went by,and each time we got the oil change we were told the same thing"you don't have a synthetic plan". Numerous phone calls, and speaking in person to the finance dept. we were told that indeed we DID have the synthetic plan. One year and five oil changes later which NOT ONE of them were done with synthetic oil brings us to June 2007. Pitre FINALLY figured out that we DID purchase the synthetic plan but our finance guy put in the computer the code for standard oil changes-making us receive the WRONG car care booklet. We were given the chance to cancel the oil change portion of the service plan, and were refunded $200.

Its because the oil change plan only lasts 3 years or 36,000 miles(we have over 35,000 b/cause we travel for my husbands work)so the refund is based on the lenght of time and expiration date. How is it right that we paid $1,295 for synthetic, received about $300 in standard oil changes, then was only refunded $200. We were under the impression of being refunded at least $800 or more for the year of inconvenience. We received 5 standard oil changes costing around $40 each. we paid $1,295 for synthetic oil changes that we NEVER received.

Remember that it took Pitre a full year to figure out the problem, and the dealership is making it seem that its our problem and too bad for us!!! I spoke to Mr. Pitre and he said that the problem is out of his hands, and he compared it to him paying insurance and when he doesn't file a claim he would expect to get money back for his policy but he cant(he stated that he knows how i feel because it makes him mad when he doesn't get reimbursed for not filing claims to his insurance)That has NOTHING to do with our situation. The way I see it is that someone goes to a fancy steak house and pays $50 for a steak dinner, the server then brings them out a McDonalds $1 hamburger, and says sorry, theres nothing we can do.

We aren't trying to get our $6,000 back for the platinum plan, we just want the remainder we paid for the synthetic plan that we didn't receive full benefits from. We just want a fair ending!!
