We own a vehicle that we have purchased a care package for when purchasing the car. This care package has vouchers that can be used at most auto service stores such as Pep Boys. We had a total of 3 or 4 oil changes done at Pep Boys. Each time we went we had asked them specifically asked for Synthetic oil to be used. The worker printed us a work order which specifically states "Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic Oil Change." The most recent visit we made, the current employee had told us that they are not allowed to use synthetic due to a restriction by the care package. We told him that Pep Boys had been putting in Synthetic oil all this time and he printed out for us the old work orders that all state, "pennzoil oil". So we have two copies of the same work order, only difference being the ones we just got printed state that they are not synthetic oil changes at all. I had asked them the first time we went if it is ok for them to use synthetic considering the service plan, and after waiting 30 minutes of him calling around he said it was fine. So we believed that everything was ok.
Now our vehicle has had multiple oil changes, whether they were synthetic or not we don't know. We have been given standard oil changes when promised verbally and on paper that we are getting synthetic oil changes.
When I called to complain, the new manager at the Atwater Village Pep Boys told me "Last time I checked, lying is not a crime," and told me there is nothing he is obligated to do about it. He yelled at me over the phone that he is not responsible and that the fleet company is.
I will never take my business to Pep Boys ever again.
