Bank of America Complaint

Over 6000.00 in overdraft fees! - Bank

- Frisco, TX
I have been with B of A for over 8 years now. In just the past year I have paid them over 6000.00 dollars in overdraft fees. They allow you to use your debit card even though there is no money in it. Over the weekend you can buy gas or food and even if you have just a dollar in your account they allow it to go through thus charging you 35.00 fee for every transaction that does not go through. I had a company deduct 400.00 out of my account from information I had on the internet this caused 4 of my transactions to not go through in which B of A charges me 35.00 for each. This has caused my account to be negative....when I called them and also had the Co on the line that informed them they took the money out without my knowledge they still didn't refund my overdraft fees. In the past year I have paid over 6000.00 dollars in fees to them. When my checks go in half of it goes to pay off their fees. I told them if they didn't take the money out it would be there to cover my transactions. I went into the bank for help and they refused, I asked for a copy of the amount of fees I have paid to them in the past years the girl went to get the copy and was told by the manager that they could not give me the copies because it was a copy right of B of A's. The people need to know about B of A. There are so many complaints on the internet from people being ripped off. I now have an account that is -840 in fees that they say I owe. I told them that I could not possibly pay this amount and my rent. They don't care won't help and keep ripping people off. Maybe the news can get the word out.

They don't do it anymore. This practice is now illegal unless you "opt in" to be ripped off.

I don't understand, however, how someone could be so unaware of their balance as to rack up $6000 in fees?

You need help, how in the world would you charge your card knowing there is no money. This is pure, uttermost, poor money management. Don't blame the bank, it's you.
Also why are you loyal to them, leave go to another bank. Did they promise you a medal or a raise for staying with them for 8yrs..Please !!!
