Ordering Electronic Cigarettes Online Scams - Electronic Cigarettes

- Naples, FL
In my opinion, the following online website is deceptive. I and others have fell victim to:
http://directecig.com/

The company contact info:
Customer Service # 888-217-9026
EMAIL: CUSTOMERSERVICE@DIRECTECIG. COM
Address:
2338 Immokalee Rd. #419
Naples FL 34110-1445

It all began when I went to one of Google's top sponsored links:
http://www.theconsumerwire.com/marketwire/health/index.asp
See pop-up window:
"Health News Consumer Tip Alert
Don't forget you can get your Electronic Cigarette FREE with our exclusive promotion for our readers. Free, no risk, and all you have to do is pay a shipping and handling charge of $4.95 with our promotion.
Don't forget - this promotion will only be available for a limited time.
Dont Miss Out On This Promotion & Chance To Try The Alternative Today!
Your Link: Direct ECig No-Risk Trial
Limited Time Offer"

Direct ECig Link is:
http://directecig.com/big10/index.php?hitid=242120488&subid=100080
Fill in info and click RUSH MY ORDER

This takes you too:
https://directecig.com/big10/checkout/index.php
At the bottom in ''SMALL DULL GRAY" print, it states:
"By clicking Confirm My Order, you are one of the exclusive few who get to participate in our 14 day Trial Offer in which you get to try our electronic cigarette for just S&H. After the 14 day trial period, you agree that your card will be charged $99.95 for the starter kit plus $9.95 for shipping and handling. Your refill cartridges will recur at $59.95 for 30 cartridges plus $9.95 for shipping and handling every month from the time of initial purchase until you cancel. Please call 888-217-9026 for questions."

Then I went to this link for Terms:
http://directecig.com/t-and-c.php
"Product Return:
If you decide our product is not for you simply give us a call at 888-217-9026 no later than 11:59 P.M. ET (Eastern Time) on or before the 14th day from your original order date. We will give you an RMA number to affix to the package. The RMA number has to be on the package, on the same side as the sending and receiving address. All components from the original package, in their original condition, must be included to receive a refund! Refunds will not be given on packages marked "Return To Sender" or returned without a valid RMA attached. Since we cannot re-use opened cartridges, we will deduct $7.50 per opened or missing cartridge. Any other missing or damaged/unusable components will be charged per our price list on the Products page located on DirectECig.com. All returned products must be sent postage prepaid and post marked within 3 days of a RMA being issued by Direct E-Cig to be considered for a refund. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A $10 RESTOCKING FEE ON ALL RETURNED PRODUCTS."

I have incidentally overlooked the "SMALL DULL GRAY PRINT" as I am sure many do. My hunch is that it is their intention for the consumer overlook this. They would not dare to state this in their initial ad.
I have refused to send back my merchandice and cancelled my credit card.

I have noticed deceptive practices just like the example above widespread on the internet. I wish there was a way to put an end to this.
I would appreciate your help in making public this issue.
I have contacted Representative Spencer Spencer Bachus and the Alabama Attorney General.

Respectfully Yours,
James Bostick
Hoover, AL

I was hooked into the direct ecig scam myself. I ordered it for 4.95 and when I received it, I tried to charge the battery as illustrated. The battery never did charge and I wound up throwing the whole kit away. At that point I figured that at $4.95 how well was it supposed to work? I then got an email stating that $109.99 would be deducted from my account fot the kit. I never saw anywhere in the paperwork anything that stated I would have further charges. I called the number for customer service to tell them I didn't order any mor of their product (the first didn't work so why order more) and was told that if I could not send it back I would still have to pay the $109.99. They are welcome to go to the dump and try to find it. I have since gotten a similar product from a 7-Eleven store near me that works and is alot cheaper!
