Old AT&T Complaint

Old AT&T error in billing - Phone service

- Santa Rosa
Complaint against AT&T

I belonged to the Old ATT with account #1389845 when in April of 2007 I was notified that I have been migrated over to the New ATT with a new account number of 053.

I continued to receive two bill each month from both the Old and New ATT, paying them both since I was advised to do so by both. Then on June 19 2007 I contacted the New ATT asking why I was billed Twice. I was told to discontinue paying the Old ATT account and keep paying on the New ATT account.

In August I received two disconnect notices from the Old ATT and when I called they said I had to pay them or my service would be disconnected, so I did.

I have been calling the Old ATT (1-800-222-0300) advising them to stop billing me twice and to refund my account for all payments that I had made to them since I was migrated to the New ATT in April 2007.

4/18/07 - Migrated to the New ATT
8/7/07 - Old ATT sends me a past due bill for $97.23
8/28/07 - Old ATT advised me they will correct the error.
9/5/07 - Old ATT advised me a work order for the error (W7CR0829) was done for the 8/7 billing
9/5/07 - New ATT also advises me that a work order for the error (N5FH0905) was done by Old ATT because the original work order was done wrong
9/10/07 - Old ATT sends me a new billing with a Credit of $84.87( dual payments that I had made since April 2007). Then on the same statement charges me for September..$48.21. With another charge of $60.57 past due from August.
9/13/07 - Old ATT gives me another work order to correct the error(W7A60913)
9/13/07 - New ATT advises me that they can not do anything since they are a different company from old and new, thus transferring me to the Old ATT who gives me another work order for the dual billing error(W7510913)
9/23/07 - I receive a call from Old ATT advising me the error has been corrected and I would be receiving a refund for the amount of all the dual payments which totaled $147.92.I was to expect the refund in 2-3 weeks
10/12/07 - I received yet another billing statement from the Old ATT stating as follows:
Past Due $60.57
Credits - $147.92
Balance - $87.35
September chrgs $42.68
Credit Balance - $44.67
10/12/07 - I sent two messages to New ATT, received a response "This is an Old ATT error and I need to contact them"

All I want is the refund due me for dual payments from the Old ATT in the amount of $147.92, in the form of a refund check and not a credit to an account that should have been closed in April of 2007, since I had been migrated to the New ATT at that time and paying the New ATT since April 2007.
I want the Old ATT to stop billing me and to stop sending me "disconnect notices" since I have not been a customer of the Old ATT since April 2007.

No one at the Old ATT seems to understand that I am not their customer and have not been since April
2007. And no one with the New ATT ( 1-800-288-2747)is willing to assist me with this error and refund because they say they are a separate company.

Sincerely,
Richard Jones

Without my knowledge, ATT disconnected my phone service, then reconnected me, but charged me a reconnection fee. When I noticed their mistake and called to get a refund, they say they can't see bills going back more than one month. Really surreal, almost scammy and really disappointing from a publicly held, respectable company.
