As a consumer, we made a decision to change our insurance company to Allstate some time ago. Allstate told us we needed more insurance to cover our home if something were to happen. So we took their advice and took out the insurance Allstate said it would take to rebuild and replace our possessions. In February of 2010, our home had a fire. Most everything was lost. Although they did not total the home, the only thing that is to be saved would be the roof, the outside walls and the foundation. Most everything on the inside was lost. If not by the fire by the smoke. As of this date they have not even given us the money to rebuild, or to replace our furniture and belongings. Allstate gave us such a run around that we hired a public advocate to take some of the stress and to get through some of the red tape that we did not understand. And still they give the public advocate the run around. Lies and excuses are what he's gotten. All we ourselves have gotten is that they will not talk to us because we now have the public advocate. They stated several times that they are either over worked and do not have time to get our claim settled and also stated they were going to settle and the check was on the way. Never arrived of course. We are now on the 10th month and still no resolution. My Family is experiencing financial hardships due to the money we have put out and were suppose to be reimbursed by Allstate. We are now going into winter, with no reimbursement for our clothes and having difficulty providing winter clothing. There have been a lot of other scams they have pulled on us during this process and we are now wondering if we will ever be home again.
