GMAC Complaint

NO Relief for Unemployed - Leased vehicle

Local resident has tried unsuccessful to work with GMAC on a leased vehicle by either extending the lease or refinancing to lower payments due to being unemployed for one year and has been told after numerous phone calls that there is nothing they can do for this person.
Email was sent to Vice President with reply to contact Customer Service.....they cannot do anything.
One phone call stated that they would speak to a supervisor who would contact me within 72 hours. After three phone calls to see why person hadn't been contacted was told that they would put it on priority and someone would definitely contact this person. Nothing to date.
Time frame: 7 months
Called dealer who could not do anything for me on a leased vehicle due to the fact that they are not allowed.
Have disability insurance on vehicle but it does not cover Unemployment.
Every attempt has been made to resolve this matter to no avail. Person is not looking for a "free" pass just some assistance in lowering monthly payments! Most finance companies are now offering relief to millions who are unemployed due to the state of the economy. Why not GMAC?
It is a sad state when you are trying to work with a company to pay and they are not willing to work with you...
No where to turn.....no relief for Unemployed!! Deplorable!!

I am sorry about the situation that you are in with relation to losing your job, but come on! Before all this bailout bs, no company would have EVER considered talking with you about "unemployment relief". You and the rest of the country ARE looking for a free pass. You need to PLAN for instances like this. No EXCUSES.

Truly spoken by someone who's never been exposed to an unforseen circumstance*s). I was in a similar situation and i wasn't looking for a handout. I have worked and paid taxes for the past 20 years in this country and another 13 years in another country. My taxes contribute to the handouts of millions of people living off welfare and the majority of the people are young and middle aged people that are quite healthy and functional, yet found a way to stay home and watch soap operas all day instead of going to work. Free Pass??? I think not - I was diagnosed with a terminal illness and thus a free pass is not going to extend my lifespan. But then, I could take advantage of subsidized housing (section 8) and let people like you judge me!! So, how should I have planned for my instance, eh? How many people plan on cancer???

Angel ~ don't give up - call the government and explain your situation. They will help you. There may be a little phone tag at first, but it will be worth it. GMAC wouldn't even exist anymore if it wasn't for the bailout in the first place.....talk about handout and they had plenty excuses :-( Also, keep a track list on how many times you have spoken with them and written communication exchanges to find a resolution. It shows effort on your part and the government may just step in. After I had called them, it only took two days before I received a ltter from a neutral unassociated resolution counseling firm offering their assistance in modifying my loan via federal express. The company was hired by GMAC to assist them in their process of helping their consumers. The government called me back and told me to inform them of the outcome or to let them know should I encounter anymore obstacles with GMAC.

Don't give up or let comments like the one above discourage you....you can't plan for unforseen circumstances and those that can, have a lot more money to spend than you and I do :-(
