McDonald's Complaint

New additive for ice cream - fingernails? - Hot Fudge Sundae & Chicken McNuggets

- 1880 Hempstead Drive, Lancaster, PA 17602
Went through the drive thru to pick up dinner on my way home thinking I was doing my wife a favor as she wouldn't have to cook. Was I ever wrong!

My daughter was first to the bag. She picked up her chicken mcnuggets and settled down to eat them when she noticed upon opening the box that there was blood on it. She, of course, was grossed out! I figured it was probably ketchup until I looked and saw the difference in color and consistency.

My wife decided that she was going to eat the hot fudge sundae I had gotten her first so it wouldn't melt. On her second bite I knew something was wrong just by the look on her face. After a few seconds she pulled out what ended up being a fingernail. Needless to say both her and my daughter were totally disgusted and wouldn't eat anything.

My wife called McDonald's and complained and was told to throw the box of chicken nuggets away and that if she wanted to come back they would give her another sundae. As if she wanted one.

My wife made an online complaint to the corporate office of McDonald's and the next day received a message from the manager of the Hempstead McDonald's. Upon returning the call the assistant manager said the problems were the manufacturers and that we would be receiving a letter. She also stated that the survellience tapes were being pulled and reviewed. A few weeks later we received a letter from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company stating that they were looking into our claim. After relaying the whole story to a claims manager we were told they would be looking into the matter and getting back to us.

In a letter from Liberty Mutual dated March 21, 2011 we were told that the insured (McDonald's) was not responsible for this accident. Well who is???

What an outrage to think McDonald's is completely free from blame. They received the food products from the manufacturer, they prepared the food, they served the food, therefore, they have the utmost responsibility for their actions (or inactions). Where has customer service gone to today? Don't ask for anything extra because you never know what your going to get!
