I am writing this for my DAD, who lives alone in Jupiter.
His story is long, I will try to make it short.
My dad lives alone on a small Social Security of $800 a month. His car was 3 mos. short of lease end and he was shopping for a car he could afford. He could not pay more than $200/m.
He went to look at a KIA at Napelton's. He told the salesman that he wanted a 6 CD in-dash player and he needed electric seat adjustment. According to my dad, the salesman said that the Nissan was the same price as a KIA, so he ended up selling him a Nissan Altima with a payment over $300/m with NO 6CD player. I am sure that they never told him such items were note available on a $200/m car.
They also took his car, a 3 yr old Honda with 7,000 miles on it to be inspected. He never saw his car again from that point(needless to say, that car was a valuable resale). This process was now taking a long time, he was there over 6 hrs, and was very tired.
The salesman finally said he had the perfect car for him. It took a while before it came up from the lot. He said it had what he wanted in it. My dad was exhausted by then and never got in the car. He then did something he should have never done, he signed all the papers. When he got into the the car, there was NO 6 CD in the dash. The salesman could not believe this(salesmen don't read window stickers???). He said that he would have one installed and for my dad to come back within the week. They would call him.
Needless to say, they never called. He made subsequent trips and phone calls. I tried to call. We got the royal run around. this was in August, I think. He still has the car and has been trying to get some satisfaction from Nissan
Motor co. and is not having much luck. They say they are not responsible for the dealerships(don't the dealers represent Nissan?) He feels helpless and taken advantage of. His family lives in NY and we were not able to go down there to help him. This salesman and dealership is unscrupulous. How do you do this to a 90 man who walks with a cane? Shame on them for preying on the old people just to sell a car.
